Law Society President, John Wotton, presenting their Lexcel Accreditation Certificate to Hawkins' Senior Partner, Paul Sheerin.

Paul Sheerin, the senior partner of Hawkins couldn’t reveal precisely what they had discussed saying only that they had covered a number of issues which were of concern to solicitors and their clients alike. He said “It wouldn’t be right for me to disclose what we talked about in a private meeting especially ahead of the President’s speech this evening at the annual dinner of the local law society at which he is the guest of honour”.

He added “The President is a very good listener. We were able to voice our concerns about matters and he promised to bear our comments in mind and continue to do what he can to support small provincial firms such as ourselves which are so important to the provision of legal services and access to justice. He may come from a big city firm but he certainly understands the problems which we and our clients face.”

Mr Wotton is a partner of one of the country’s largest firms of solicitors, Allen & Overy and specialises in competition law.

The annual dinner of the local law society takes place this evening in the historic surroundings of the King’s Lynn Town Hall and is due to be attended by 140 people including members and their guests.
